Mihoko will prepare the indigo dye vat with pre-reduced indigo solution. In order to get darker blue, you need to repeat few times of “dip and air dry” steps. The magic of indigo is changing the colors from green to blue while you oxidize the materials. You will learn this traditional art in SAORI way.

Description

July 25th (Sunday) 10am to noon

This workshop allows you to dye up to 1 lb of yarn or fabric.  Mihoko will prepare the indigo dye vat with pre-reduced indigo solution. In order to get darker blue, you need to repeat few times of “dip and air dry” steps. The magic of indigo is changing the colors from green to blue while you oxidize the materials. You will learn this traditional art in SAORI way. 

You may prepare materials by tying or wrapping some sections with rubber bands, clamps, and clips in order to get tie-dye effect. Have a great time to experiment how things will come out.

A short video about  preparation for the  class will be sent in advance. bori effect by using rubber band, clamps, clips, and so on.

There are some yarn and fabric available at the studio for your convenience.  Please ask Mihoko for the detail. 

This workshop allows you to dye materials up to 1lb . The fiber should be natural fiber such as cotton, rayon, bamboo, silk, wool. Synthetic materials won’t be dyed. 

You need to rinse the wet dyed material at home. 

Please wear painters clothing, shoes, and gloves. Also, bring a plastic bag for your dyed materials to take home.

[Cancellation Policy}

If you cancel before one week prior to the workshop, I will charge $20 and refund the rest.  If you cancel  after that, I will not  refund. It is still nice to hear from you if you cannot make it.
