how to use special loom attachments to weave with one foot

NEW SAORI PICCOLO LOOM! More Info

The Saori Loom

These looms, imported from Japan, have only two pedals, making them easy for anyone to use. Loom attachments are available that enable people with various disabilities to weave. Another special feature of the loom is that one person's work may be removed while still in progress, and another person's put in its place. This allows several people to take turns using the same loom to continue works in progress. A bobbin winder is conveniently attached to the loom itself (see photo at left), making it unnecessary to shift position in order to wind new bobbins as one weaves.

"SAORI 60 Series" Models available from our studio:

SAORI SX60: portable and foldable for transport and storage. We often use it for events away from the studio. It has a partially metal frame (tan color).

SAORI 60 (pictured left) with all-wood frame.

SAORI SX60-H: SX60 with longer metal pipes for a taller person (e.g., over 6ft.)

[Note: The above models also come in versions with 4 harnesses and 6 treadles.]

SAORI 60-A2: wheelchair-accessible and height-adjustable

NEW! SAORI has created the Piccolo loom designed for weavers ages 4 to 104. It's extendable, foldable, portable, and we're selling it! See the Manufacturer's 1-page Prospectus in English!

For more info about ordering 60 Series and Piccolo looms, see our 2010 Price List for Looms & Accessories, and visit the complete catalogue of SAORI looms and accessories, with photos and product descriptions, on the SAORI NO MORI English-language pages;  click on "SAORI LOOMS" at the top of the page when you get there! This "SAORI Forest" is the factory where the looms are designed and made; it is also a teaching studio.

FLASH: We currently have just one Piccolo loom and a few SX60 looms still in stock from the order that arrived in May. A $250 deposit will reserve one of these looms for you at the price on our current (January 2010) list. We have no scheduled date for our next order and we cannot guarantee these prices for that order, so this is the best time to buy your Saori loom, by reserving one or more of the ones we have now in stock!
